Shrewsbury is a proud New England town, incorporated in 1727. It began as home to several farms and as a suburb to Worcester.  In the 1780s, Shrewsbury entered the leather industry. Gunsmithing, watch factories, and sawmills followed into the 1800s.  With the invention of the street car and development of routes, Shrewsbury became a summer resort spot along Lake Quinsigamond.  Shrewsbury continues to provide recreation, restaurants, and a myriad of businesses to the city of Worcester and neighboring towns.
